White House Budget Director Nominee Neera Tanden Testifies Before Senate Homeland Security Committee

In her opening remarks, Ms. Tanden told lawmakers, "I know there have been some concerns about some of my past language and social media and I regret that language and take responsibility for it. I understand that the role of OMB director calls for bipartisan action as well as nonpartisan adherence to facts and evidence." Along with being questioned about her social media tweets, members also asked about COVID-19 economic relief, IT modernization, cybersecurity, government spending and several of President Biden's executive orders. Ms. Tanden currently serves as the president and CEO of the Center for American Progress in Washington, DC.
