President Biden participated in the annual Edmund Pettus Bridge crossing in Selma, Alabama. On March 7, 1965, civil rights activists were beaten by police at the location while marching to Montgomery to protest the denial of voting rights to African Americans, a day that has become known as “Bloody Sunday.”

Coverage of the Million Man March included open phones segments, live crowd shots, interviews with rally participants on the Mall, and speeches by African-American men from all walks of life, ending with a 2-1/2 hour speech by march organizer Minister Farrakhan.

Participants held a rally on the National Mall to call for reparations for slavery in the U.S. Speakers talked about the state of racism in the U.S., and the need to redress wrongs of the past. Between some of the speeches various groups and performers entertained the crowd.
