Defense Secretary James Mattis and Joint Chiefs of Staff Vice Chair General Paul Selva testified at a hearing on the Pentagon’s national defense strategy and the 2018 nuclear posture review. Secretary Mattis stressed the need for “stable, predictable” funding in order for the military to be fully trained, equipped and ready for future threats, as opposed to the series of continuing resolutions that have kept the Defense Department funded for the last decade.
