Babies and Breadwinners - A Documentation of the 1961 Polio Vaccination Campaign

Produced by the Communicable Disease Center of the U.S. Public Health Service, this film documents the effort to immunize every citizen living in Columbus, Georgia. In 1961 the polio vaccine had been in existence for more than six years, but many at-risk members of this Georgia population had not yet been immunized. The community-wide effort is detailed from planning and surveys to vaccination shots.
