Prime Time Schedule for August 28-September 1, 2017
Starting at 8pm ET Each Night 

Lectures in History "Back to School Week" 

From August 28-September 1 at 8pm ET American History TV will feature programs from our Lectures in History series, which takes viewers into college and university classrooms around the country. Each night centers on a different theme and begins with a debut program at 8pm.

Monday, August 28 - Latino History
We begin with a class on the 1943 Los Angeles "Zoot Suit Riots" taught by University of California, San Diego professor Luis Alvarez. Then, classes on "Latinos & the Civil Rights Movement" from Bakersfield College and "Latino Labor Movements" from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Tuesday, August 29 - Religion in America
"Religion & the American Revolution" is the subject of Jeffry Morrison's class at Georgetown University, part of the James Madison Memorial Fellowship Foundation's Summer Institute on the Constitution. We also feature classes on "Puritans & Religious Freedom" from West Virginia University and "Rev. Martin Luther King Jr." from Stanford University.

Wednesday, August 30 - American West
Patricia Limerick of the University of Colorado Boulder teaches a class on the "20th Century West & Federal Government," part of a seminar organized by the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History. Also, classes on the "California Gold Rush" from Emory University in Atlanta and "Asian Immigration and Angel Island" from the University of Minnesota.

Thursday, August 31 - The 1950s
We start with a lecture on the "Korean War & Civil-Military Relations" at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill by Joseph Glatthaar. That's followed by classes on "1950s American Culture" from Hillsdale College in Michigan and "Cold War Educational Film" at Virginia Commonwealth University.

Friday, September 1 - The Civil War
Gary Gallagher of the University of Virginia teaches a class on "Civil War Memory." Then, lectures on "Cultural Heritage & Confederate Monuments" from the University of Georgia and "Civil War-Era Women & Volunteerism" from Villanova University.
