The House Is Not In Session
House Session - September 30, 2023

The House passed a continuing resolution to fund the government through November 17, 2023, thus averting a shutdown. Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) was only able to pass the bill with help from Democrats. More Democrats (209) voted "aye" than Republican (126). Later, the Senate passed the stopgap measure just after 9 p.m., and President Biden signed it before midnight.
