The Senate confirmed two U.S. District Court nominations: Jeffrey Bryan, Minnesota; and Margaret Garnett, Southern New York. In a 44-51 vote, lawmakers also failed to advance Jose Javier Rodriguez's nomination to be assistant labor secretary for Employment and Training. Democratic Senators Joe Manchin (WV) and Bob Menendez (NJ) voted "no" with all Republicans. Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) switched his vote to "no" and filed a motion to reconsider to allow for second vote at a later time. Several Senators were absent, including Georgia Senators Jon Ossoff (D) and Raphael Warnock (D) who were both attending former first lady Rosalynn Carter's service in Atlanta.
