FBI Director Robert Mueller and Attorney General John Ashcroft briefed reporters on plans to reorganize the Federal Bureau of Investigation after several documents were uncovered revealing intelligence information about potential terrorist attacks prior to the September 11, 2001 attacks on the U.S. The reorganization shifted personnel and resources from traditional crime solving to terrorism investigations and hire specialists to help prevent terrorist attacks on U.S. soil.
