Secretary Johanns spoke to reporters about an investigation into a recent shipment to Japan of U.S. beef that was suspected of being at risk for mad cow disease. Japanese officials decided to halt U.S. beef imports after inspectors found spinal bone in an American veal shipment. Secretary Johanns said that the processing plant in New York had been delisted and can no longer export beef into the Japanese marketplace. Following his remarks, he responded to questions and comments from the reporters. close
