The subcommittee heard testimony on trials involving domestic violence cases, specifically battered wives who are charged with killing or assaulting their husbands. The subcommittee is considering legislation which would allow women in state trials to present evidence and expert testimony concerning their abuse. Testimony was also heard on a bill that would create programs to train judges and court personnel about domestic violence. close
