Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen briefed reporters on a variety of economic issues following a two-day meeting of the Federal Open Market Committee. She said that the uncertainty caused by the United Kingdom’s upcoming “Brexit” vote was a factor in the committee’s decision to keep interest rates steady.

*The proposal that the United Kingdom leave the European Union was dubbed “Brexit.” The proposal was approved by a referendum vote June 22, 2016. close
