The Senate Armed Services Subcommittee on Seapower held a hearing to examine the Navy’s various shipbuilding programs and funding needs. James Geurts, the Navy’s assistant secretary for research, development and acquisition, fielded most of the questions from senators, and topics included fleet maintenance, submarine and aircraft carrier construction, workforce training programs, threats posed by China, and the potential impact of future budget sequestration due to caps from the Budget Control Act. close
