House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) gave a statement on President Trump’s handling of protests and civil unrest that broke out across the country following the death of George Floyd while in custody of Minneapolis police. Holding a Bible as the president did the day before, the speaker quoted from the text and other presidents, arguing the president could have chosen a more appropriate response to be a “healer-in-chief.” She also commented on the protests, saying it was “long overdue time for us to make some of that change that people were calling out for.” She also condemned the destruction done by some of the protesters in several cities. close
