President Trump gave an update on the federal response to the coronavirus pandemic at the White House. After expressing his sympathies for the death of his friend and one-time presidential candidate, Herman Cain, the president talked about his support for a temporary expansion of unemployment benefits for those impacted by the coronavirus and getting children back to school in the fall. When asked by reporters about his tweets regarding delaying the 2020 presidential election, President Trump said he “wants to have the result of the election” and does not want to be “waiting around for weeks, months, and literally, potentially, if you really did it right, years, because you’ll never know.” He later added that he was fine with absentee ballots, but that mail-in voting is corrupt and would make the U.S. the “laughing stock in the world.” close
