President Biden and first lady Jill Biden hosted the annual White House Easter Egg Roll on the South Lawn. Vice President Kamala Harris and second gentleman Douglas Emhoff were both in attendance along with approximately 40,000 participants including children and their families. This year’s theme was “eggucation” a play on “education” and considering the first lady’s years of work as an educator. First lady Jill Biden also read the story “Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?” to a group of children following the egg roll. The annual tradition dates back to 1878 with the first White House Egg Roll taking place during the Rutherford B. Hayes administration. close
