The National Newspaper Publishers Associations presented several awards at its annual dinner, including the Newsmaker of the Year Award to Minister Farrakhan. Minister Farrakhan spoke about how the U.S. government has treated African-American leaders who have attempted to reach out to other nations in the 20th century. He responded that he would continue in his efforts to make such connections. He also criticized the U.S. government and the media for misrepresenting the nature of his recent trip abroad. close
