Attorney General Testifies on President's 2025 Budget Request - Part 2

He was questioned by subcommittee members on a variety of topics including holding China and Mexico accountable for their role in the fentanyl crisis, the Justice Department's new rule for firearm dealers, voter identification, and hiring additional police officers and attorneys. When specifically asked about the Justice Department's special counsel report into President Biden's handling of classified documents and accounts of President Biden's mental fitness, Attorney General Garland said, "I have watched him expertly guide meetings of staff and cabinet members on issues of foreign affairs and military strategy and policy in the incredibly complex world in which we now face." He continued to say, "I could not have more confidence in the president."

House Presents Articles of Impeachment Against Homeland Secretary to Senate

This makes Secretary Mayorkas the second U.S. secretary to be impeached by the U.S. House, and the first in 150 years. FBI Director Testifies on FY 2025 Budget Request
1 hour, 56 minutesFBI Director Christopher Wray warned of several "elevated" threats to U.S. national security, such as foreign terrorism, drug cartels, ransomware attacks, violent crime, and the Chinese government. He said, "As I look back over my career in law enforcement, I would be hard-pressed to think of a time where so many threats to our public safety and national security were so elevated all at once. But that is the case as I sit here today. ... this is by no means a time to let up or dial back." He also advocated for Congress to reauthorize Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), which monitors foreign nationals overseas and is set to expire on April 19. Mr. Wray's comments came during testimony on the FBI's fiscal year 2025 budget request before a House Appropriations subcommittee.
