Ambassador William Saxbe talked about his memoir, I’ve Seen the Elephant, published by Kent State University Press. After growing up in rural Ohio, he served in WWII, attended law school, ran for the Ohio State Legislature as a Republican, and worked his way up to Speaker. Afterward, he served in the U.S. Senate, became U.S. attorney general under Presidents Nixon and Ford, and finally served for two years as ambassador to India. Mr. Saxbe says he is most proud of his marriage and children. He took questions from the audience at the end of the program. Peter Franklin, co-author of the book, also spoke. close
