Due to a realignment in the military structure caused by changing military priorities and budget constraints, the military plans to reduce its manpower 25 percent by 1996, with the base closures accompanying the reduction. Invited speakers discussed the military’s plans to reduce manpower and the effect of base closures on the areas surrounding the bases.
