Coinciding with the dedication of the National World War II Memorial, the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage held a four-day “Tribute to a Generation: National World War II Reunion” on the National Mall. In this discussion, two former presidential candidates and World War II veterans, former Senators Dole and McGovern, talked about their lives and experiences. They also discussed veterans as politicians and presidential candidates. Mr. Pachter moderated the panel. The former senators responded to questions from the moderator and the audience. close
