Panelists talked about the craft of writing history. Panelists included James Crooks, author of Jacksonville: The Consolidation Story; S.V. Date, author of Quiet Passion: A Biography of Bob Graham; and Wayne Wood, author of Jacksonville Family Album: 150 Years of the Art of Photography. All three authors were long-time Florida residents and they discuss the differing ways they each wrote about history. S.V. Date’s biography of former United States Senator Bob Graham sprang from Mr. Date’s post as a Florida newspaper reporter covering local politics. Current Jacksonville Human Rights Commission Chairman James Crooks began his book after experiencing Jacksonville during the 1960s and 70s. Mr. Wood talks about his approach to covering history in his book of hundreds of photographs submitted by the citizens of his community. Following their remarks they answered questions from the audience. close
