Former Brigadier General Janis Karpinski talked about her memoir One Woman’s Army: The Commanding General of Abu Ghraib Tells Her Story, published by Miramax Books. In the book, co-written with Steven Strasser, she talked about her quarter century in the United States Army before being put in command of 3,400 soldiers. Her soldiers were in charge of the incarceration of Iraqi detainees and, after his capture, Saddam Hussein. The author spoke about the facilities at Abu Ghraib and the interrogation operations that occurred there. Following her remarks, she responded to questions and comments from members of the audience. close
