Kristina Borjesson talked about the book she edited Feet to the Fire: The Media After 9/11, Top Journalists Speak Out, published by Prometheus Books. For the book Ms. Borjesson interviewed journalists about the current “era of crisis” and how news has been manufactured since September 11, 2001. Topics included how reporters covering the war in Iraq feel about the efforts of the current administration to limit media access to the front lines and the exercise of political power. Ms. Borjesson talked about the news business, including the responsibility of the audience for how news is covered. She talked about the problem of misinformation not being corrected and when falsehoods become “common knowledge.” Ms. Borjesson read passages from the book on various topics. After her presentation she answered questions from members of the audience. close
