Representative Lee talked about the situation in Darfur. The previous day the U.N. Security Council passed a resolution calling for the U.N. to quickly take over peacekeeping operations in Sudan. She had toured a Darfur refugee camp earlier in the year and met with Sudan’s vice president as part of a delegation to the region led by House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi. She also talked about her arrest, along with others including several more Black Caucus members and NAACP members, while protesting in front of the Sudanese Embassy. She responded to telephone calls and electronic mail. close
