Senate Armed Services Committee held a hearing on US-Russia Arms reduction. The committee heard testimony from Dick Chaney and Colin Powell members of the president’s Cabinet on the strategic arms reduction treaty between the U.S. and Russia signed during Russian President Boris Yeltsin’s recent visit to the U.S. The recent agreement provides continuity for arms reduction between the U.S. and the Commonwealth of Independent States from the original START treaty signed in 1991 between the U.S. and the Soviet Union. close
