President Obama spoke about a White House report on security lapses following the Christmas Day attempted bombing of Northwest Flight 253. He outlined several of the lapses and presented an overview of directives he had issued to correct problems found. He stated that “the U.S. government did not connect the dots” to uncover the attempted airline bombing plot and that his administration would be vigilant in the prosecution of the “war on al-Qaida.” close
