President Obama addressed the United Nations General Assembly. In his remarks he urged the United Nations to respond more actively to Syria’s civil war and outlined his foreign policy goals for the Middle East and North Africa, saying U.S. priorities would focus on the Arab-Israeli peace process and ensuring non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. He also called for quick passage of a U.N. Security Council resolution enforcing an agreement under which Syrian President Bashar al-Assad would give up his chemical weapon arsenal. close
