Speakers talked about food policy, sustainability, and climate change. Christiana Wyly used slides as she talked about water and land resources used for livestock and argued that climate change could be mitigated by changing livestock policies. Brook LeVan showed a video as he talked about animal use, fertilizer, and sustainability. Kate McBride, who raises “clean” meat for her immune-depressed daughter, argued that it was not necessary to eat less meat, but instead the focus should be on returning carbon to the soil.
“Food and Climate: Sustainability and Feeding the World” was a panel at the 11th Annual American Renewable Energy Day (AREDAY) Summit, “Accelerating Solutions for The Great Transition,” held August 10-13, 2014, in Aspen, Colorado. close
