President Obama delivered a statement on the inadvertent killing of two hostages held by al-Qaida, American Warren Weinstein and Italian Giovanni Lo Porto. He expressed his condolences and regret to their families and said he takes full responsibility for what happened in the January 2015 counterterrorism operation. He also defended the legality of the drone strike and said there was no information suggesting hostages were at the location. close
