David Davis, the secretary of state for exiting the European Union, testified before a British parliamentary committee on the preparations and negotiating objectives for “Brexit,” as that country’s vote in favor of leaving the EU is also known.

Mr. Davis told committee members the government plan on leaving the EU would not be published or ready by January 2017 and that the plan is “still being worked on.” Members expressed concern over the timetable for releasing a solid plan and raised questions on issues concerning EU citizens currently living in the U.K, the border issues between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, and future trade relations with the 27 EU member states. close
