In brief remarks to the press before the meeting, he said that it was an honor to host the group, and that he intended to create jobs and renegotiate the country’s trade partnerships and agreements. The press pool was asked to leave the room at the close of the president’s remarks, but then was invited back in for a brief statement of praise from the United Brotherhood of Carpenters President Douglas McCarron for President Trump’s inaugural address. close
