President Donald Trump and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau held a joint news conference in the East Room of the White House. This was Prime Minister Trudeau’s first time meeting with President Trump since he took office. The two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to trade and immigration and announced the creation of the Council for the Advancement of Women Entrepreneurs and Business Leaders. When asked about the Syrian refugee crisis and President Trump’s executive order on refugees and immigrants, Prime Minister Trudeau said he would not lecture another country on how to govern, and that Canada would continue to push policies of openness to serve as a positive example in the world. close
