Ajena Rogers gave a tour of the home of Maggie Walker, a leader in Richmond, Virginia’s African-American community at the turn of the 20th century. Maggie Walker, who began her life as the daughter of a washer woman, became the first female chief executive officer of a U.S. bank. Ms. Walker’s home is located in the heart of historic Jackson Ward and is operated by the National Park Service.

C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2017 LCV Cities Tour” in Richmond, Virginia, from January 21-27 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Comcast cable local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments air on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments air on Book TV on C-SPAN2. close
