Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) and other members of the House Republican leadership team held a news conference following a meeting with the party’s caucus. The leaders said they would continue to pursue a replacement of the Affordable Care Act but would not give a timeline in which they expected it to happen. The party was instead moving forward with other priorities, including an overhaul of the nation’s tax code, they said. Speaker Ryan also took a few questions from reporters, and in response to one said House Intelligence Committee Chair Devin Nunes (R-CA) did not need to recuse himself over his handling of an ongoing investigation into Russian influence in the 2016 presidential election and potential connections to the Trump campaign. close
