American History TV presented coverage of a symposium marking the 75th Anniversary of the World War II Battle of Midway. The Battle of Midway took place June 4-7, 1942, in the Pacific Theater of World War II, and resulted in a decisive naval victory for the U.S. over Japan. The battle took place six months after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor and one month after the U.S. Navy fought the Japanese to a stalemate at the Battle of the Coral Sea. Some historians argue the U.S. victory at Midway was the “turning point” of the war in the Pacific. close
