The Senate Commerce Committee held a hearing on data breaches and ways to further secure the personal information of consumers. Witnesses included the current and former CEOs of Equifax who talked about the safeguards made since the credit agency reported a cyberattack involving as many as 143 million consumers. The former CEO of Yahoo! also testified about breaches of 3 billion accounts, including one in 2014, which U.S. intelligence officials concluded was sponsored by the Russian government. close
