Education Secretary Betsy DeVos delivered keynote remarks at a legislative conference hosted by the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO). She said the relationship between the Education Department and education leaders would become more important following the school shooting in Parkland, Florida, in February 2017. In addition, she criticized state leaders concerning the implementation of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). She called for a paradigm shift in the concept of school and urged states to be more innovative with their education plans. close
