White House National Security Adviser John Bolton unveiled the Trump administration’s new Africa strategy. The core priorities of strategy include advancing economic ties in the region, combating terrorist threats, and ensuring that U.S. aid is used efficiently and effectively. In addition, the new strategy aims to counter the influence of China and Russia on the continent. Mr. Bolton said, “The predatory practices pursued by China and Russia stunt economic growth in Africa, threaten the financial independence of African nations, inhibit opportunities for U.S. investment, interfere with U.S. military operations and pose a significant threat to U.S. national security interests.”

After the discussion ended, John Bolton held a briefing with reporters on the administration’s new Africa strategy. close
