President Trump hosted a roundtable on border security in the White House’s Cabinet Room, including a number of local and state law enforcement officials from around the country. The meeting was on the 21st day of a partial government shutdown, an impasse caused after disagreement over President Trump’s $5.7 billion request for a barrier along the U.S.-Mexico border. President Trump said he would sign legislation from Congress to provide back pay to federal employees affected by the shutdown, but said he insisted upon wall or barrier funding to sign any funding deal. close
