After the approval vote on the tax treaty to Japan, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer and Senator Richard Shelby acknowledged Senator Patrick Leahy for casting his 16,000th vote. He is the fourth person to reach this milestone. Senator Leahy spoke afterwards about this achievement and spoke about his first vote and voting for former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens. close
