Minority Leader Schumer (D-NY) spoke about the death of George Floyd and pleaded with his Republican counterparts to commit to police reform and racial justice legislation. He went on to talk about pandemic response efforts, and called for further economic relief. He also criticized Senate hearings on the Russia investigation and the 2016 elections at this time, and expressed his anger at the clearing of Lafayette Park for the president’s walk to St. John’s Church. He also read part of General Mattis' column on the protests. close
