President Biden held a news conference with reporters following meetings with NATO leaders in Brussels. He addressed several questions pertaining to his upcoming meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Geneva. On whether relations with Russia would be compromised if Alex Navalny died, the president said his “death would be another indication that Russia has little or no intention of abiding by basic fundamental human rights. It would be a tragedy. It would do nothing but hurt his relationships with the rest of the world in my view and with me.” Other questions focused on the status of Ukraine’s request for membership in NATO, and his conversations with allies in their response to the January 6 attack on the Capitol and former President Trump’s influence. close
