The Department of Defense held a detailed briefing into the findings of an investigation into the August 2021 bombing outside the airport in Kabul, Afghanistan, that killed 13 U.S. service members and at least 170 civilians. With the use of slides, photos, maps, and drone video, investigators said the attack was the work of a single suicide bomber and was not a complex operation. Investigators determined the only gunfire came from warning shots in the aftermath of the bombing. close
