Following their closed-door meeting, Representatives met with reporters and discussed the Democratic caucus plans concerning campaign finance reform. Representative Richard Gephardt (D-MO), the democrat leader in the House, indicated that they expect to deal with legislation on this topic before the session ends. Representative Mike Synar (D-OK) supported a bipartisan effort at reform because neither party’s plan satisfied him. Representative Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) supported the current Democrat reform plan. close
