President Bill Clinton briefed the press on his feelings concerning the accomplishments of the first year of 103rd Congress. He stated that efforts are continuing to find a compromise on the Brady Bill and the Republican effort to filibuster the bill. Senator George Mitchell, D-MA, threatened to call an emergency Senate session to debate the bill should the filibuster last too long. Senator Bob Dole, R-KS, chose not to comment on the filibuster.
