NASA Administrator Bill Nelson spoke about the hard environment of space and touched on the reasons why the U.S. is going back to the moon, pointing to “our nature as discoverers and adventurers,” during a briefing on the Artemis II mission with the press at Kennedy Space Center. Administrator Nelson was joined by other NASA officials and the crew of Artemis II. Several topics were discussed, including the looming space race with China, the role of industry and international partners, and lessons learned from the Artemis I mission. The Artemis II mission is a 10-day, manned mission to orbit the Moon and investigate its South Pole as a potential viable living option in space for future space exploration. close
