The House Oversight and Accountability Committee held its first hearing on an impeachment inquiry into President Biden. Republicans alleged President Biden and his son, Hunter Biden, profited from corrupt foreign business deals with associates based in Ukraine, China, and Romania. Democrats criticized the impeachment inquiry for being unnecessary and lacking credible evidence, especially amid a looming federal government shutdown. One of the witnesses called by the Republican majority was George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley, who said the current evidence presented against the Bidens was not enough to warrant impeachment, but an inquiry was necessary in order to investigate the facts. close
