Rep. Brian Mast (FL) talked to reporters about the Republican Party’s choice for speaker following House Majority Leader Steve Scalise’s decision to drop his bid for the top post. He said he would support Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) for the speakership, but the conference was open to other candidates, too. Regarding the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) uniform he was wearing, he said, “Tlaib’s got her flag; I’ve got my uniform,” referring to Rep. Ihlan Tlaib (D-MI) continuing to display the Palestinian flag outside her office as the Israel-Hamas war continued. Rep. Mast served in both the U.S. Army and the IDF. close
