Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) Director Sandra Thompson discussed the state of the Federal Home Loan Banking (FHLB) system during a conversation hosted by the Bipartisan Policy Center. Several topics were discussed, including the mission of the Home Loan Bank system, housing affordability and community development, and the role of Home Loan Banks in the recent spate of bank failures. The Federal Home Loan Bank System was established by Congress in 1932 to provide liquidity to member financial institutions to assist in the financing of community and home lending needs. close
