State Department and U.S. Agency for International Development officials testified before the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee for Middle East, North Africa, and Central Asia on the Biden administration’s policy toward Afghanistan following the August 2021 military withdrawal. Several topics were discussed, including the erosion of rights for woman and girls in the country, concerns over the diversion of humanitarian aid to the Taliban, the resettlement of Afghans who have helped the U.S. over the years, and the relationship between the Taliban and China.
